Tennis racquet help?
I've been playing with a babolat pure drive (blue) for several years but it gives me too much power so i'm trying racquets that give me more control. I've tried the Head Flexpoint FXP Prestige Team (red and white) and the Head Flexpoint Radical Tour (orange)(liked it) and Head Flexpoint Prestige(all red)(liked it) and Wilson K Factor KSix (red, white, black)(didn't like it). any ideas on any other racquets i should try?
The Aeropro Drive (which Nadal uses) is a great control racquet because it allows for a lot of topspin and gives you the ability to hit harder without worrying about breaking the back fence.
Before you try any other racquets though, I would suggest you try changing the tension on your strings to more control-oriented settings.
1. Try increasing the tension in your strings by 3-5 pounds.
2. Try using more control oriented strings (e.g. Babolat Xcel premium)
I have a Pure Drive as well and I string it with Xcel premium mains and Hurricane pro crosses for a combination of power, comfort and control. I always string my racquets at 60 pounds, because I'm a big guy who can generate enough power from my swing. If you feel you generate more power with your swing than you need to, try stringing at 60+ pounds (upto 62 pounds per Babolat's maximum tension recommendation).
